Team Profile:

"Tu Meke Dragons"

Tu Meke Dragons started in 2004 under the encouragement of Robin Stringer, a past stalwart of Dragon Boating in Christchurch.  With only three weeks until their first regatta, Lorraine Flintoft enlisted help from the local Prebbleton Dino'saurs Rugby Team, many of whom are still in the team to this day.

After Aoraki DBA took over the management of the sport, and introduced new international boats and rules, Tu Meke formed into a Sports Club and raised funds to purchase their own boat.

Tu Meke have become a formidable opponent in the sport and travel to nationals every year, rising to South Island Champs in 2009 and 4th at Nationals in the idilic Blue Lakes outside Rotorua.  Tu Meke and the Development team hope that the 'home town' advantage will improve their placings this year.
