Super 12 Festival 2015
Date: Sunday 18-Jan-2015
Racing at Akaroa is, of course, dependent on the tides. The weekend of 10th or 11th January is generally too early (too many people are still on holiday), plus the tides are all wrong.
Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th are looking better. From www.niwa.co.nz/ we have high tides at 1:45 pm or 2:33 pm. (Low tides are around 8am both those days). The week after (24th and 25th Jan) the tides are totally wrong - low tide is early afternoon.
Location: Akaroa (maybe at Lake Brunner next season?)

NZDBA National Championships 2015
Nationals are due to be in the North Island this season, and will be on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th March-15 (which is a week before Easter weekend).
From NZDBA: "Well folks we have listened to you, and we thought long and hard about how we can improve the experience of the National Champs for paddlers. We have also been looking at how we can encourage greater participation from the Auckland based teams in attending the Nationals. So we are very excited to bring New Zealand's peak event back to Auckland City."
The NZDBA Nationals 2015 (incorporating the Trans-Tasman/Oceania Competition) will be held over two days, on Saturday the 28th and Sunday 29th March 2015 at Lake Pupuke, Takapuna, North Shore, Auckland. This makes it the week after the Auckland Regional Champs at the same venue.
There will be two days of racing, along with a number of elements to the day to give more paddling time on the water. The championship event will incorporate Adults and Schools racing over the two days.
Day One will features 500m racing for 20-paddler crews, with the inclusion of 10 man/woman crews. If we have a full paddling timetable for the day NZDBA may introduce repechage races for those who do not win their heats. This encourages teams to achieve their best times in all heats.
Day Two will consist of 200m Sprints and 2 km Turns racing.
Because of the extra costs of running a regatta at Lake Pupuke (esp setting up loading pontoons) NZDBA has had to slightly increase the entry fees.
Aoraki hopes that by taking the racing to Auckland it will make it financially more viable for our South Island teams to make the trip.
So mark the dates and venue in your diaries - we look forward to seeing you at Lake Pupuke in 2015.
Back in Auckland (Lake Pupuke) for the first time since 2008!

Aoraki also runs a Corporate Give-it-a-Go day at Lake Pegasus on Saturday 22-Nov-14. Other (out of Christchurch) Dragon Boat events your team might be interested in:
